POL workers should not have to subsidise the Network

Right now, there is no need for IA.

Supply Chain have recently taken on supplying RM and that is why Swindon have been transferred over. Supply chain have also entered the private sector and have started to take on external contracts.

This 3 customer base is summed up in Supply chain's new motto "To be the professional, and financially sustainable supplier of Choice for secure services to RMG, Post Office Ltd branches and our external customers". (Why do they give 'Choice' a capital 'C' ?)

Presumably, this is part of a strategy to separate Supply Chain from POL by building a case to place Supply Chain into a different mutual from POL. In their haste, management have left themselves exposed in two major areas. Firstly, there is a big wage gap between the lowest paid grade in cash centres and the lowest paid grade in Swindon stock centre. The CWU should push for parity. Secondly, the exposure to the external market leaves POL vulnerable to any threat of IA. Even a whiff of a strike will scare away all their new contracts.

IA is not necessary because management cannot afford for their new customers to even think there is this possibility. Under these circumstances, even Mickey Mouse could get us a better pay deal. It seems that those in CWU HQ responsible for Supply chain do not want us to get the pay we deserve and are trying their best to avoid giving us a ballot on a pay offer.

Randompostman, what you post is not true. Counters recently voted in favour of IA. And as for having balls, would you be able to handle having a gun shoved in your neck at work because Supply Chain drivers face this threat every day?

The British public want Post Offices to remain open and provide the full range of services. Yet thousands have shut.

It is accepted by all parties that Post Offices need a subsidy to remain open. Government dont wish to pay with tax money so who pays?

The Post Office Network benefits the whole of the country and should be subsidised by the whole of the country through the tax system. Instead, POL workers, whose wage rises have been less than inflation for years, are being forced to take a pay cut so that the government will be able to cut the subsidy in the future. POL management's cost cutting obsession shows they are colluding with this aim. So what are you guys going to do about it and more to the point what will the CWU allow you to do?

In other words, POL workers are paying more than their fair share towards the Network Subsidy. Even using the conservative Consumer Price Index, a Supply Chain PA on £325 a week basic is £25 below the £350 he/she should be on just to keep pace. Why should POL workers have to pay more towards the Network Subsidy while others on more money have to pay less? So a pay cut year on year and no need for IA? Ok minister as long as you are kind of happy so am i.
