I'm the travel specialist at my branch and did the travel WTLL on Tues (it wasn't that boring)which our FSS slept through!!!!!!!!!!! When confronted she said she was meditating!!!! I don't get an extra £1000 a year just for doing my job either.

I have done this job since I left school and I have stood in as ABM and BM but no more I have morals and I will not sit on the end of the phone for an hour just to give sales numbers and then how ever many you get be told it's just not enough, I will not be brain washed and I will not bully staff and at this moment in time I really don't know how long I can work in this bulling enviroment so much money has been wasted through sick absence due to stress caused by the managment in our office.
When will they realise happy staff are productive misserable staff are not!!!!!!
I am the same Blue8, I used to be acting ABM many years ago when an ABM had to do all the safes, cash and coin, serve on the counter and use your brain to do the weekly cash account imagine that now our abm can't even do the daily duties and breaks. I am happy just serving the queue out the door all day long I quite enjoy it but all this sales and conversations bore me to death, the more sales you get they just want more I just play the game when a manager is about I just throw a conversation in but as soon as they disappear so does my selling.
From reading through all the comments, it has quite clearly been stated that people who have stayed in the same role for their entire working lives have gotten miserable and disillusioned, those who have taken on different roles and kept their minds active for the most part have not.
The majority of the counter staff on here are extremely personal and critical of all others, can't answer a serious question and when confronted with one make light of it. I am so glad none of those work in my branch and I am finding this site to be a complete and utter waste of time. This isn't a constructive forum but just an excuse for a big old whinge from a bunch of old cronies like those sitting round the TV in the old folk's home complaining that the youth of today don't do x, y and z.
The world moves on. I reiterate what I have said in previous posts - if you don't like the job, go and let someone who wants it have it and stop trying to ruin it for people who are trying their best. If your counter, FS, BM are crap - do something about it, don't use it as justification for everything not being worthwhile.
You moaners and whingers are the perfect example of finding it easier to talk about something than do anything about it, what a horrible way to live your life.
I am not a moaner but when you work with managers that can't manage just bully it is very hard, I have always loved my job until now.
We have and are trying to do something about it nearly half the staff in the office have been off with stress purely to do with the management and yes we have officially complained but no one see what's going on the amount of sick leave should ring alarm bells but it's not!!
So just think yourself lucky you work in your perfect office!!
I am a counter clerk and have been for 25 years, i have done many roles acting BM, ABM, and also a role on the public side called a customer advisor many years ago.I work with a lovely bunch of people who all stick together, help each other in work and outside of it but most of all we tolerate and have respect for each other. No one is better than anyone else always remember that.
I resent being called an old cronie I am only 41 years old its the new 21, I like serving customers and helping them and I still make income for POL, I will never enjoy selling if I did I would of applied to be the FS in our office but no one did because none of us like selling like our ABM doesn't like serving or anything else really.
Maybe the counter staff whinge and moan because we have seen enough forward plans to last us a lifetime, no-one listens to us on the counter maybe if POL did we wouldn't be in this mess now, in time you will find this out yourself. As for my miserable life how wrong you are I have a great life outside of work, a loving husband, two healthy and gorgeous kids, a nice home, my health and most of all a loving family.
Always remember its only a job what happens outside of work is more important. If you think the forum is a waste of time don't post nothing on it.
