A POSTMAN who stole more than 1,000 postal packets over an eight -year period has appeared back at court.
Michael Sullivan appeared before HH Judge Ray Singh at Durham Crown Court this afternoon (November 5) where he was due to be sentenced.
The 54-year-old pleaded guilty to two charges at an earlier hearing held at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court.
The first theft by employee between August 20, 2011 and September 25, 2019, in Consett, where he stole approximately 1,032 postal packets containing money and gift cards.
The second, a further charge of theft by employee, but relating specifically to September 25, 2019, where he stole three postal packets containing £65 cash.
Durham Crown Court heard that a pre-sentence report had been prepared by the National Probation Service, however a psychiatric report had been requested by Sullivan's barrister.
Sullivan, of Temple Forge Mews, in Consett, was remanded on conditional bail.
He is due to appear at Durham Crown Court for sentence on December 17.
