Man arrested after postman's bike is stolen outside Lincoln Coop

A brazen thief casually unchained a £500 white-coloured bicycle after a postman had locked it before going into the shop.

And shoppers waiting two metres apart to enter the Coop had no idea that the bike had been stolen until the distraught owner came out and began to ask people if they had seen his bike.

One woman who had been waiting for her partner outside the store told Lincolnshire Live that "the postman was beside himself".

Now police have issued an update on the case.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of bike theft.

"This is in connection with the theft of a bike outside the Co-op in Burton Road on April 11 at around 2.30pm."

Police said the arrested man had been bailed and the investigation continues.
