Remember Express Dairies having a go at delivering packets? A bloke on my delivery gave be a book which had been delivered by Express Dairies thinking it was one of our drivers who had been responsible. The book had been thrown over the fence and was addressed to a road in another part of the town about one mile away. They left a well known firms tools catalogue on a woman's step on my delivery which was for another town completely. They 'screwed' up, but we 'fixed' it for her.

I always know when the new Next catalogues are out as I have to step over them to get to the letterboxes. Rain or shine they'll dump them on the doorsteps.

don't be so quick to moan I'm doing really well out of our competitions stupidity. Every time something is delivered by the competition and just left on the doorstep I complain that I've never received it, make it clear that Royal Mail would never have let them down and get another item sent out, free. . . . I even usually insist that the second item must be sent thru Royal Mail. . . . .if we all do this enough these companies sending stuff out will soon come back to the professionals, us.

If only quality of service and professionalism were what the customers wanted. All they want is the cheapest price. The amount they have pay out in redelivering items and compensation is probably a lot less than what they're saving by using these shoddy competitors.
It is galling to see these lazy w*****s getting away with chucking a parcel over a fence rather than writing out a card due to non delivery. Imagine if the recipient is on holiday. The return 2 weeks later to find what was once a parcel for them has turned into a rats chew toy.
Why can't royal mule make some sort of advertising campaign showing how we treat peoples parcels and packages compared to our lacklustre competitors.

Most likely because the general public would see the truth rather than the lies Royal Mail tell about us, their employees, and in the present union busting climate, that would never do. Al and Ad and Labour are only too pleased to have this competition.

That being the case, and I don't doubt it. Although isn't a part of business making sure you stay in business? :d'oh!
Anyway, if royal fail wont do it. Is there something the union could do, or even we ourselves? Fighting royal fail about the pay offer and scandalous conditions is fine. But if we hope to remain with royal mule the more customers we win back the better.

I agree with you. I think this is going to come down to the union having to shout about the service we provide because I just don't see Royal Mail going down that line. Remember last year when figures were released about the nmber of items which go missing each year and the press implied it was because we are all thieves? Not once did anyone from Royal Mail appear on TV (if they did, I missed it) telling the public about the number of items wrongly addressed which we make sure arrive at the right place, or the numbers of items we find open and get sealed up. I don't reckon there is any real will to letthe public know these things because I believe we are being prepared for privatisation at a knock down rate.

Maybe it's time we started pressuring the union to make better use of our money instead of funding the parasitic politicians.
As it says up there ^^ Protect your jobs! Protect your future! That would also mean, conversly, protecting Royal Mule.
An ant can't kill an elephant, but 500'000 ants could. If we do manage to win this fight with Tweele Dum and Tweedle Dummer we'll all need to try and repair the damage they've done.

Again, I agree with you. I know Peter Hain used to be sponsored by the CWU, but I'm not sure if any other MP's are. As you suggest, the money wasted on these people who don't seem willing to state our case could be better spent on stating it ourselves via the CWU.

I always try to tell people that ask about packets etc. to know or find out exactly who is bringing them and how useless most of the low cost couriers are, been on same round for a while now so if something is chucked on a doorstep they know it's not down to me unfortunately not everybody on here is that fortunate, sometimes tell people if I find stuff left, trouble with that is people will say thanks to you, think 'great it's here' and not bother complaining to the sender that their courier is s**t if they get home and find something soaked, damaged or not arrived they will do something about it then.
