Royal Mail faces staffing pressures in Grantham this Christmas leading to delays in post being delivered

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “It’s a very busy period in the run-up to Christmas, and while the vast majority of mail is delivered on time, we know there can be local challenges.

“In Grantham, higher-than-usual sick absence has put pressure on some routes, and we’re bringing in additional support, including agency staff, to help keep deliveries moving.

“Our teams are working hard to maintain service and to resolve any delays as quickly as possible.”

Residents, however, have expressed disappointment in the level of service.

Sue Brightmore said: “My son was 50 on the December 2. His card from his brother was with Royal Mail on the first, tracked, and he still hasn’t got it! He had no mail for 10 days.

“Royal Mail should be ashamed and lose the Royal title.”

June Lorraine Duff added: “I had birthday cards sent from Grimsby on December 1 and 3 but received them on December 10, well after my birthday. I think Royal Mail is appalling service these days and cost a fortune.”

Ross Moss added: “I never receive mail on a Monday. Royal Fail.”

Residents can collect their mail from the Wharf Road sorting office, provided they bring identification for all household members.

The office is open from 8am to 10am on weekdays and 8am to 12pm on Saturdays, with Sunday closed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government or the NHS gets involved, there seems to be an epidemic that's targeting postal workers
