A Bedford man who distributed Class A drugs through the postal service has been jailed for five years and six months.
Mustak Alom, 28, of Mareth Road, was part of an organised crime group that couriered drugs between Bedford and Southampton and also advertised next-day delivery of illegal substances to anywhere in the UK.
He was arrested at Bedfordshire Police Headquarters in January 2025, where he was attending as part of bail conditions linked to previous crimes in London. Officers discovered he had driven to the station in an uninsured vehicle.
During a subsequent search, two mobile phones were seized that linked him to an ongoing drug supply investigation.
A warrant was later executed at Alom’s home address in Bedford, where officers found a stash of Class A drugs, including cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine, and LSD, along with cannabis, edibles, drug paraphernalia, and nearly £2,000 in cash.
Next day delivery
The drugs had a combined street value of approximately £16,000.
Messages found on Alom’s phones revealed he had been offering “postal to anywhere in the UK” with next-day delivery, advertising his services as part of a wider drug distribution network.
At Luton Crown Court on Thursday (4 September), Alom pleaded guilty to nine offences, including being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, including cocaine, ecstasy, ketamine, and LSD.
Detective Constable Nema Behzadi, from Bedfordshire Police, said: “Alom played a significant role in a drugs network which saw illegal and harmful substances distributed across the UK.
“His use of the postal system to distribute drugs and his blatant disregard for the law – even turning up at police HQ in an uninsured vehicle – demonstrates the audacity with which he operated.
“Thanks to the diligence of our officers, we were able to uncover the full extent of his offending and bring him to justice.”
Anyone with concerns about drug dealing in their area is urged to contact the police online or by calling 101. Reports can also be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
