REDDITCH'S MP has spoken to Royal Mail bosses about concerns over delays in mail deliveries.
Chris Bloore, MP for Redditch and the Villages, met with regional operations director, Kate Seals, and delivery manager, Ryan Orton, at Redditch Delivery Office.
This meeting came after several complaints from constituents about delays in important mail, such as hospital appointments and urgent documents.
At the meeting, Mr Bloore was informed about recent improvements in service reliability, which Royal Mail attributes to the hard work of local postal staff.
The improvements come amid national service model changes, including a five-day delivery schedule for Second Class letters and revised performance targets.
Mr Bloore said: "Royal Mail services are essential for our communities - from vital healthcare appointments to family correspondence.
"I'm pleased to hear about the progress being made in recent weeks, thanks to the hard work and dedication of local Royal Mail staff.
"However, residents across our constituency rightly expect reliable daily postal deliveries as a basic service and I made that point very clear during our meeting."
Mr Bloore acknowledged the efforts of the local Royal Mail team but stressed the importance of consistent and reliable postal services for the community.
"When people are waiting for hospital appointment letters or other urgent correspondence, delays aren't just inconvenient - they can have serious consequences for people's health and wellbeing.
"That's why I'll continue to engage closely with Royal Mail management to ensure services across Redditch and the Villages keep moving in the right direction."
Mr Bloore has committed to maintaining regular communication with Royal Mail leadership and monitoring service performance to ensure recent improvements are sustained and built upon.
