A postwoman has completed her epic 400-mile trek from County Durham to Cornwall to raise awareness for suicide prevention.
Fifty-year-old Nikki Gaynor set off from the Royal Mail delivery office in Darlington on August 11 and crossed the finish line at Launceston on August 23.
Upon completing the walk, Nikki said: "It was really good and uplifting. I just did the whole walk with a huge grin on my face. I was just so happy to do this and spread the word."
Wearing a t-shirt bearing the names of 33 people who have lost their lives to suicide, Nikki said: "I didn't walk alone as I had those people with me.
"Others actually joined me on route as well, and from stopping at other post offices around the country, I also picked up another ten extra names off people and carried them with me the rest of the way.
"I just want to spread the word everywhere from County Durham to Cornwall, and beyond that, there is always help out there. If this saves a life, then I am happy."
The Royal Mail worker also used the challenge to promote Inside Out Day on World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10.
Nikki described it as "a day where you wear an inside-out piece of clothing to start up conversations with people.
"It then helps raise awareness and spark up conversations around a matter that is not spoken about enough."
After the 'amazing' response she has received both online on social media and from the support from people across her walk, Nikki does not want to stop there.
Nikki said: "It has been amazing and I cannot believe it, from online and in person, I have been recognised by others for my work and all sorts, which has all helped getting that convo out there.
"I am still going to continue doing this even though this challenge has finished. I want to keep the momentum going."
Her fundraising page has already pulled in nearly £3,000 for If U Care Share Foundation. You can support her here.
Nikki added: "The idea of the walk was never as hard as what people go through every day with mental health.
"To think it is their only option to take their own life is heartbreaking, and we need to make that difference."
