CWU Live at 5pm - Too Hot to Work?

Post by ted_e_bear »

Dear Members,

Join us at 5pm for this week’s episode of CWU Live. With scorching weather hitting our workplaces, we’ve called in CWU’s Health & Safety Policy Assistant, Jamie McGovern, to talk all things heat safety and get the answers you need to stay safe.

We’ll be tackling:

What is Heat Illness – and how to spot it early

Vulnerability risks – who’s most at risk and why

Lessons from abroad – how other countries protect workers in hot conditions

Employment law – your rights to make safe decisions in extreme heat

Where to find reliable severe weather information

We’ll also take a close look at “heat injury” and “deliberate dehydration” - and why workplaces must adapt to hotter-than-normal conditions.

Join us here at 5pm: https://www.youtube.com/live/pvxZWF6ZiG0

Back end of August. CWU right on the f***ing pulse as usual. Emergency snow update next May.
How about update us on the uso plans going forward instead of this patronising nonsense.

The CWU have just stood by and let RM push back our finishing times and also seemed content to allow them to add 30 mins or so to them under the ODM plans. You really couldn't make it up!

What's happened to the update regarding the proposals to amended ODM,as the last update was on the 1 August, have RM just told them to do one?

The only autonomy OPGs have anymore seem to be those responsibilities which the company abandons - in this case, preventing you from getting killed in the line of duty. Talk about adapting, how about the maladaption that is our ever later working hours? I've been in this job long enough I can remember you'd easily be off the street in the summer for noon and this entire issue did not exist.

Remember, kids, when the sun is at its zenith the onus is on you to plan your route to keep you in the shade on your treeless concrete jungle of a walk.
The machine stops.

What's the betting that they avoid the heat of the day in the late afternoons? It's almost as if the CWU represent workers from a different company than RM.

Just got back from Portugal where the temp 11-3pm was 35-38 degrees...did i see a postie or any other company delivering...did I feck as like...that's because I was awoken each morning with deliveries of food industrial goods parcels and letters between 5-7am...talked to one chap and said about delivering in the midday sun and his reply was "only the English"....with climate change happening sure the THICK sods at union headquarters must pressurise RM at the start of a heatwave not at the end coming into Autumn...when postman/ladies start falling down with heat exhaustion then RM and the Union must be held to account.
