Camden Council has allocated the site in Shepherds Walk for 45 new homes in its draft local plan.

This document sets out the local authority’s vision for development in the borough over the next 15 years.

Many of the schemes set out by Camden Council have already receiving planning approval, such as the redevelopment of the O2 Centre in Finchley Road.

Others have never been proposed before, including plans to redevelop Hampstead delivery office.

If you need to spend time on your computer, this game is a must in 2025!

According to the local plan, the site could be repurposed to provide 45 new homes in the area.

But the Royal Mail says it intends to continue using the two-storey 1950s building.

“We have no plans to relocate our Hampstead Delivery Office and will be engaging with the local plan process,” a spokesperson said.

Camden Council is running a public consultation until June on the final draft of the document.

After this, the plan, along with the consultation responses received and supporting evidence, will be submitted to the government for public examination by a planning inspector.

If the plan is approved, it will be adopted by the council and used as guidance in planning decisions until 2041.

The local authority claims that the document identifies how many new homes are needed to support Camden’s population, and “where and how they should be provided”.

It is expected that more than 10,000 homes will have to be built over a 15-year period to achieve this.

The local plan says that any development of Hampstead delivery office must improve the pedestrian path in Spring Walk.

Any proposed demolition of the building would also need to be justified under Camden’s planning rules, the document adds.
