This is the postal operator charged with opening items being sent through the post and stealing from Royal Mail.
Dylan Catney appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court last week where two charges were put to him.
The 25-year-old is accused of opening “postal dockets” and stealing mail to an unknown value belonging to Royal Mail between November 2023 and last April.
Following a brief hearing, Catney, of Dart Hill in the Andersonstown area of west Belfast, was released, with District Judge Steven Keown adjourning the case until April 29.
Under the Postal Services Act, anyone who “intentionally delays or opens a postal packet in the course of its transmission by post or intentionally opens a mail bag” can be jailed for anywhere between six months and two years, depending on the seriousness of the offence.
