A KIDDERMINSTER postman is set to take on a brutal triathlon for a good cause.

Shaun Marshall, a Kidderminster postman and fundraiser, will be taking part in the Brutal Events Extreme Triathlon to raise money for Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation Service.

The triathlon, which is on Saturday, September 20, consists of a five-mile open water swim, a 232-mile bike ride, a run up Snowdon, and an additional 45 miles to the finish line.

Mr Marshall aims to complete this challenge in 40 hours.

He said: "This is my toughest challenge to date and I’m taking it on not just to push my own limits but to make a real difference for local young people who need support.

"Nightstop provides vital services, and I’m proud to do my part to help them continue their important work and celebrate their 20th anniversary."

The charity offers emergency accommodation and crisis support to young people aged 16 to 25 facing homelessness or housing instability.

It also provides a mediation service for young people aged 11-25 and their families to resolve conflicts, prevent the breakdown of families and avoid future homelessness.

Coralie Hudson, fundraising manager at Nightstop, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Shaun for supporting Nightstop with his incredible challenge – and also rather in awe.

"From talking to Shaun, we know it is certainly going to stretch him to the limits, and we cannot thank him enough for putting our young people at the heart of his fundraising efforts."

Mr Marshall has already raised £270 and is calling on the community to help him reach his target of £2,500.
