CONTAMINATED water has been causing issues for some Witham residents for over a year, with a local post-woman claiming the issue prevents her from doing her job.
Witham resident Leah Cushing, 36, has lived and worked in the town for over three years.
The post-woman first noticed a large and contaminated puddle of water at Court 3 on the Courts in Witham last year.
She said: "Anytime it rained there was a puddle and if it rains continuously it forms a full on flood.
"It gets so bad to the point where we can't deliver down there.
"The colour of the water and the smell suggests it's some sort of waste water.
"It has a massive impact when flooded as we can't deliver people's mail and residents could be waiting on important documents.
"The smell is awful - it's like sulphur.
"I feel sorry for the people who live on Court 3 right now.
"I knocked on someone's door yesterday to ask if it's been reported, he told me its been reported numerous times to the council and just passed the blame to the water Company."
A spokesperson for Witham Town Council said: "Witham Town Council was unaware of the drainage problem faced by residents until it was brought to our attention through social media.
"While this issue doesn't fall directly under our jurisdiction, we are always committed to supporting our residents and advocating on their behalf when necessary.
"Upon investigation, we determined that Essex Highways should address this matter.
"We promptly notified the local County Councillor for the area, who raised the issue and will pursue an urgent resolution.
"We understand that identifying the correct authority for various issues within the town can be challenging.
