A resident in Edinburgh was left fuming after a brazen thief was caught on camera 'swiping' a parcel from his doorstep - he has since shared the clip online in a bid to get the man caught

A package thief has been caught on camera "nicking" a parcel from outside someone's home before scarpering in broad daylight.

The bloke, clad in a dark coat and grey hoodie, was spotted climbing the stairs to the property before he lifted the parcel by the front door in Edinburgh. The incident unfolded on South Gyle Mains just before midday on September 26.

The audacious act was captured on the homeowner's Ring doorbell camera, which has since been shared online. Another camera, positioned at the front of the house, filmed the man as he casually walked off with the parcel tucked under his arm.

According to the homeowner, this wasn't the first time that his items had been swiped from his doorstep. He posted the footage on Facebook in an attempt to recover his belongings, reports the Mirror.

In June 2024, a similar event occurred when a man was allegedly nabbed stealing £400 worth of birthday gifts from a local mum's front door. The resident said she bought the presents for her mum's 80th birthday.

The video showed the bold figure entering the building wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans before he approached the home's front door.

He seemed to have a bag in his hand and the resident alleges another neighbour unknowingly let him into the building before he "legged it" with the goods.

Presumably this is an Evri delivery situation - as they seem to be allowed to doorstep their parcels.

I'm pretty certain are encouraging posites to do similar by entering them in prize draws for 1st time delivers, every day it's clearly highlighted on our PDA's when we fail to deliver any parcels.

Someone won an iPad today as part of that my doorstep stuff. I looked at the guy and thought yep, over the fence, in the bin, in the enclosed (open porch). You cannot get great scores without some parcel hide and seek
