A much loved and respected postman has been presented with retirement gifts from residents of Mylor Bridge after 34 years on his rounds.

Bryan Trevelyan retired, after serving 34 years as a postman, 14 of those in Mylor Bridge.

0n Friday, July 21, postmaster Djamal and his wife Sue presented Bryan with his retirement gift from the villagers on his rounds.

There were also two ‘road’ retiring collections for him. As Sue presented Bryan with his retirement box, plus a large box of chocolates, she thanked him on behalf of everyone he had served and helped over the years, for his wonderful humour, cheerfulness and kindness.

Residents say Bryan, who celebrated his 70th birthday on the same day, will be very much missed by the people of Mylor Bridge, and he is wished a very happy and long retirement.

There had been several collections for Bryan in the village, but the main one has been at Djamal and Sue’s Newsagents and Post Office in Passage Hill, Mylor Bridge.

Bryan joined the Post Office in February 1989 after several years of working as a motor trade mechanic, saying he felt the need for “a complete change of direction.”

Bryan Trevelyan completed his last postal round on July 21, which is his 70th birthday.

Bryan is also a scout master and has been district commissioner four times.

He has received a number of awards during his time with the scouts, including the Silver Acorn, which is an award for good service.
