A POSTMAN “liked by everyone” has hung up his sack after delivering millions of letters around the peninsula.
Paul Cady started working as a postman for Royal Mail in August 1974 before moving on to become a delivery van driver.
On Saturday (April 1) the dedicated 66-year-old bid farewell to the postal service after 49 years.
Speaking of his retirement, Paul’s colleague, Graham Connolly, told the Globe: “I was 20 when I first joined Royal Mail and Paul was one of the first people to come up and speak to me. He was such a nice person and made me feel welcome right away.
“I was lucky enough to work with Paul for 25 years and during that time he was always friendly and couldn’t do enough for people.”

Graham took over Paul’s route after he moved on to become a delivery driver.
Graham said: “I do the round Paul used to do years ago and customers still ask how he is doing today. It’s nice to speak to them about him. They all loved him.
“Everyone liked him. He was an all-round nice and helpful person. He couldn’t do enough for people and was always putting others before himself.”
As well as being a dedicated postie, Paul also enjoyed playing pool and answering quiz questions with his colleagues.
Graham said: “In work, he enjoyed quiz questions. If there was a question he’d always know the answer. He was good like that.
“He also enjoyed playing pool and is a great family man to his lovely family.”
