A postwoman has thanked her Dales community for their support after helping her raise an incredible £7,000 by completing the Great North Run.
Tracy Bowe and her sister Leanne ran the half-marathon in Newcastle on Sunday for Macmillan Cancer Support.
They chose the charity due to the help it has given their brother Paul Tweddle who lives in Darlington and was sadly diagnosed with incurable brain tumours in 2021 aged just 44.
Boosted by their desire to give something back to the charity, Tracy and Leanne completed the Great North Run in two hours and 34 minutes and raised thousands in the process.
Tracy, who lives in Middleham and works as a postwoman in the Yorkshire Dales, said: “I want to thank everyone for their support and generosity especially the people of Harmby, Spennithorne and East Witton my regular round.
“With their help Leanne and I have raised over £7,000 for Macmillan.”
Some of those funds have been raised thanks to a display of 18 gnomes that Tracy created in her front garden, two of which are dressed up in support of her fundraising for Macmillan.
Passersby took selfies with the display for a small donation to the cause.
