Ofcom is today =https://www.ofcom.org.uk/consultations ... proposals to change the regulatory reporting requirements imposed on Royal Mail.
In July 2022, we published a statement on our review of postal regulation. This included a decision to strengthen our monitoring regime to support the financial sustainability and efficiency of the universal postal service.
Royal Mail will now be required to submit to us annually a view of the financial sustainability of the universal service over a five-year period.
It will also be required, every five years, to provide a detailed forecast on efficiency; and publish two measures of its efficiency expectations from that forecast. It must report on progress against those expectations on an annual basis.
Our consultation sets out detailed proposals for these forecasts and annual reporting, including the information Royal Mail will be required to provide as part of these submissions, and when it will need to be submitted or published.
The changes to the reporting requirements are due to come into force at the start of the 2023–24 financial year.
Today’s consultation closes at 5pm on 1 November 2022.
