ROYAL MAIL POSTIES TO TAKE PHOTOS TO CONFIRM DELIVERY
https://postandparcel.info/147150/news/ ... -delivery/
Royal Mail is rolling out a further new feature across the UK, offering photos taken by posties at the delivery address as confirmation of delivery for its customers using Royal Mail Tracked services.
The feature will give Royal Mail’s sending and receiving customers increased visibility of how and where mail is delivered and further peace of mind as a result.
The Royal Mail app and website will show the postie’s photo of the delivered item when customers input their tracking details. Customers can also access the photo via email notifications from Royal Mail. Photos will also be made available where items are delivered to a neighbour.
The launch of this new feature follows the roll-out of new state of the art handheld devices to posties, announced in September 2021. The new devices have enhanced scanning and photo capabilities to support this new feature. The new device was selected following extensive trialling of different devices by postmen and postwomen across the UK who were impressed by the range of features it offered.
Nick Landon, Chief Commercial Officer at Royal Mail, said: “The photo capture feature is another example of how Royal Mail is innovating to increase convenience for customers, whilst continuing to deliver trust at the doorstep. We are always looking for new ways to ensure we provide the best service possible to all of our customers.”

‘State of the art handheld devices’….really?

So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
Illegitimi non carborundum

How is this more convenient, when the recipient leaves a note saying leave in garage, won't be able to do it anymore, callers office ain't going to be too happy with all the returns

As believable as
"selected following extensive trialling of different devices by postmen and postwomen across the UK who were impressed by the range of features it offered"
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

Hopefully arriving next week then all I've got is the new PDA they spent a fortune on and it's already nearly as slow and s**t as the old one became after 5 years.

Apart from now, stuff we used to safe place with customers WE know, now has to go back to the office. Hardly trust on the door step, is it?
Hardly convenient for the customer either, having to go the callers office because of some Royal Mail bureaucratic nonsense, and an obsession to be like every other parcel firm.

Does anyone know whether this utter bullshit is here to stay? It's quite obviously a moronic idea that is a f***ing waste of everyone's time - especially customers.

Can you not select delivered to safe place and take a picture or has this stopped? Managers don’t tell us nothing. Didn’t know about it until out in delivery.
