CHILDREN'S favourite Postman Pat – and his black and white cat – have popped up, suitably enough on top of a postbox.
Knitted models of the kids' characters have appeared in Abingdon Market Square in Abingdon to publicise World Book Day.
The smiley postie is wearing his bright blue uniform and is accompanied by cat Jess, a large knitted brown post bag and a traditional red postbox.
A note left by the mystery creator reads: “Postman Pat and Jess for World Book Day 3rd March.
“Please do not take me. I have put this here for all to enjoy! Thank you for your support.”
Karen Vivian, from Abingdon, snapped a photo of the bright topper. She said: “It cheers me up no end. I wish I could crochet like that!”
