The job involves up to six hours of walking per day
Royal Mail is advertising for a part-time postie with a clean driving licence.
The permanent job is based at the Liverpool South delivery office, with the hours any time between 7am and 7pm.
It's a physically demanding role and you'll spend between four and six hours delivering mail outdoors in all kinds of weather.
The job advert says the ideal candidate will be happy working solo as well as part of a team, and being out and about.
You'll also need a good level of fitness as the job involves up to six hours per day of walking.
In addition, you'll need to be able to plan your round and make sure you complete all your deliveries in good time, and be able to work under pressure and with the public.
The job also involves working in different areas covering colleagues' holidays, so you might need to adjust your working hours to match your round.
A full UK manual driving licence (in your current UK address), with no more than six penalty points is essential, but a clean licence is preferred.
The hourly rate of pay is £10.85 (for those aged 18+), or £8.44 (aged 17), plus an additional £5.83 per hour Sunday premium. A weekly supplement of £26.61 (pro rata) and in some locations an area allowance is payable.
You will be paid weekly, with pay increments after six months and 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance.
The shift pattern is five days across Monday to Sunday, with two days off during the week as rotational days off.

They don't want much do they and in recompense they will pay you just above the minimum wage which in April will be £9.50.
Having said that, if you are training for an Olympic endurance sport it would fit the bill splendidly... walking around in the pissing rain or snow for 6 hours a day , whether it be bitterly cold or steaming hot, 5 days a week on a rotational basis..... having to work Sundays as an added bonus.
Is there any downside or is it blue skies all the way?

You know when you see marathon runners collapse within sight of the finish line? That's the kind of luxury I was dreaming of on my last loop at Christmas.
The machine stops.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
