Royal Mail is rolling out a new uniform for postmen and women in the first change in a decade.

The new-look uniform, which includes walking trousers and shorts, tops, jackets, gilets and headwear, has been based on the feedback of postmen and postwomen across the UK.

The uniform has been created to reflect the physical demands of the daily round including the increase in parcel deliveries.

It has been designed by a team of experts in design, fabrics and product development, who collaborated with a leading industry expert in biomechanics.

The national rollout follows a three-month trial.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: “We worked closely with our people to come up with these designs which are poised to help them in their highly physical jobs while reflecting the shift towards more parcels.”

Today we just looked like drowned rats.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I hope those shirts are cotton as I can’t stand the red ones with a synthetic material, the blue shirts are much better 100% cotton keep your cooler in the summer

They were clearly just told that's all the mail they had to deliver today!

I'm still baffled as to why there's no fleecy's as part of the new uniform, what are we supposed to wear in the winter when it's sub zero?

Has anybody tried the new uniform yet and are they an improvement on the current attire? I take it the base layers are only a thing you would wear in the winter or colder months? Might take a bit of dutch courage to wear them  but then if they wick the moisture away from you and provide UV protection? That can only be a good thing right? :hmmmm
