A war memorabilia collector has been criticised by police for sending two hand grenades through the post after selling them on eBay.
The grenades, which were stored in two jiffy bags, arrived at the Royal Mail's processing centre in Cultins Road, Edinburgh, on Tuesday.
The packages were scanned and found to contain two grenades.
Army bomb disposal experts checked the devices, which did not contain any explosives.
The man who sent the packages had placed some of his collection for sale on the internet auction site eBay.
He sent four grenades, two badges and two patches through the mail to different people at the same time.
A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "While the gentleman concerned was unaware that this would cause any problems, the discovery of two grenades was clearly a matter of extreme concern for Royal Mail staff and police.
"In the current climate people should be mindful of what they are sending through the post and exercise some common sense."
