Lorry driver saves postie from mailbag robber

BREAKING NEWS 3pm: A HAVE-A-GO hero lorry driver today prevented a postman falling victim to a mailbag snatch.

A dirty white Transit van pulled up behind a postman as he was making his deliveries at about 9am today in Crown Drive, Spalding.

The passenger from the van grabbed the arm of the postman and tried to snatch the mailbag from him.

There was a brief struggle between the two men, before a lorry pulled up behind the transit van and the driver intervened in the situation, demanding to know what was happening.

The van has then driven off at speed towards the top of Crown Drive and Roman Bank.

The male, who tried to grab the bag is described as being in his late 30s with short dark curly brown hair with long bushy sideburns.

The driver of the lorry established that the postman was uninjured before leaving the scene.

Police are now trying to trace a lorry driver as he may be able to provide additional details about the offending van or its occupants.

However, it is not known if he is a local man or works for a local company.

Police also want to hear from anyone else who was in the Crown Drive area and witnessed the incident.
