Both links lead to interesting items.
At least the broadsheet press seem to be doing it's homework rather than relying on the drip-feed comments from Leighton & co.
It's a start but the more competant areas of the press seem to believe that the RM attitude it doomed to fail (eventually)
All we can do is hope that RM & the government will come to their senses and come back to the table.

The Links
I agree both links are worth reading and give us a bit of positivity.
I still remain sure that the Government will intervene if necessary to stop a strike going ahead and force RM to come to a mutual agreement with teh Union.
Some may think I am wrong but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.

The thing is Leighton has always maintained that he will not be held to ransom.
He seems to me to be a pig headed bastard,so if a meeting takes place not sure how it would go.
Put it this way,we are going out on strike-END OF.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

So the Telegraph wants greater profits for shareholders and less pay for the workers. Typical.

BBC
The main postal workers' union is writing to Royal Mail to call for fresh talks in an attempt to avoid the first national strike in more than a decade.
The Communication Workers Union says it wants further negotiations after its members turned down a 2.5% pay rise and voted in favour of industrial action.
Its call comes as it is expected to set dates later this week for a series of UK-wide stoppages.
A Royal Mail spokesman said it was always willing to meet with the union.
