And i thought Royal Mail made things confusing...........This has got problems wriiten all over it.While i can see the unions aim to cause maxium pain for RM,it could cause problems for the workforce,as you will have functions crossing other functions picket lines.

I am a C & N driver from a large mail centre incorporating a large deliery office as well,i do earlies and take mail to other DO's in our catchment area,so in effect i would be working when the DO's i am schedule to go to are on strike......i think thats the way i read it.

There will no doubt be a picket line,i would no doubt be asked not to cross it,so this means i return with the mail still on board.....massive problems afoot i believe.

It was the same during the 1st strike but I am sure we had guidance to allow the drivers through or at least let the managers have access to the vehicle. Whatever we do we don't want loyal CWU members suspended because of confusion, (or even at all).

MDEC

Post by de-coded »

Well I will be out on picket line for a couple of hours on Thursday 26th July 2007.

Seems like a good plan, but what is the point of MDEC being out on the Saturday surely they would have been better for a Wednesday and a Thursday to cause most disruption.

A & A won't be able to ignore this action

I'm still not clear when my function is supposed to go? Under the IR framework, processing functions are separate from D.O's. I wish the CWU head shed would make things a bit simpler, for instance:

Everyone - In Monday
Processing - out Tuesday
Deliveries - out Wednesday
Distribution and all others - out Thursday.
Everyone - Out Friday

Wash Rinse and Repeat :nana :nana :nana

Re-Current Dispute/IA/Casuals

So many threads to choose from to put this particular posting,so I think I’ll bung it in here….

Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday see our mail center flooded with casuals doing nights lates and earlies.I know they have to work and make a living themselves,RM are using these casuals while postman are sitting at home wanting to do o/t.

The sorting quality is terrible,I have been bringing back twice as many missorts from the DO’s I go to on my duty.Today(Wednesday)the delivery section in our mail center worked to their hours and used the vans,it was indeed mayhem.

I kid you not admin staff were taking out cut offs in their cars, seniour managerment as well were doing walks. One manager was loading up a crew bus with a whole delivery and two cut offs,he was given 4 casuals to assist him,I think they were Polish,so there’ll be helpful then.

The main point of this posting is at the moment there seems to be a bottomless pit of casuals,so we all know whats going to happen on strike days, coach loads of casuals will be shipped in.

I have 29 years service in,sometimes I have not always agreed with the unions plans/ideas but I will of course adhere to the strike dates, but I do hope the meeting between CWU and John Hutton(Trade & Industry)go well on Monday.AL & AC are employed by the government so why aren’t the government telling their employee’s to knuckle down and talk to CWU.

Resolve will of course weaken,we know that as do the CWU not to mention Royal Mail will also be aware of this as well.

The above instance was not meant to be taken literally. The point I am trying to make is that headquarters could have simplified things.
another awful Saturday ahead
I think a few awful Saturdays are better than a future full of none stop awful Saturdays. Speaking to a lot of my delivery colleagues a quarter past two finish on a Saturday is totally unacceptable, and they are willing to do everything possible to stop RM's current plan even if it means a having to deal with shite for the short term.
