Royal Mail starts investigation after resident highlights duplicate leaflets issue

I bet this particular householder is a serial moaner and it's done to annoy him. We used to put multiples through the doors of people who had previously tried to shove them back at us claiming they didn't want them, but hadn't followed the official opt-out routine. I know one guy who put his excess through one house when covering another round when he heard it was a moaner.

Anyway, GDPR means I must now opt in to this sh*te from now on???

Could be seen as harassment. I wouldn't recommend doing anything like that.

The way things are going with all the obese folk and fat kids I wouldn't be surprised if the government don't crack down on the junk food advertising such as pizza's and the other rubbish food

I swear this week's Farmfoods leaflet is the same as the one from two weeks ago. It leaves enough ink on my hands, I should be able to check the fineprint.

Chances are it's a lapsed walk and quality of service is the usual shitshow.

I still keep getting advertising leaflets, and this week received 4 of the same:

It WILL be passed on to the manager.
The problem is at times it does get over looked if it's not the regular postie.

Couple of things, let me know what username you want as it needs to be changed, we are quite sensitive on here.
The other thing, try not to get too upset while receiving leaflets, the whole process means jobs and you never know, you might one day get something really useful through the door.

I've never received, and never will receive anything 'useful' from door to door marketing, and in fact refuse to use any such services that advertise in this manner.

That's a strong response.
Most people are not keen on them, some find some of them useful, we don't particularly enjoy working with them but I've never met anyone who feels that strongly about them.

How do you feel about the mountains that fall out of newspapers and magazines, online advertising or even the 10 minutes of adverts between your favourite show on TV?

I hate to say this, RoyalC**p, but the Royal Mail Opt Out service is not entirely reliable. One reason is that different posties could be covering in your area and they may overlook your opt out. That's what happens on some of our duties in my town.

On my duty I have no opt outs, but I do have two addresses that have No Junk Mail signs on their letter slots. Quite clearly those two addresses get no junk mail from me or whoever covers for me while I'm on vacation or taking my regular day off in the week.

I don't know if you're able to use a No Junk Mail sign; it may be an eyesore, or if you're in a rented property some landlords don't approve of them. But they really do save the hassle of receiving unwanted advertising garbage.

Some years ago there was a Freedom Of Information request that asked what would happen to a postie who didn't deliver D2D because there was a sticker on the door.
The response from RM was they would be putting their job at risk.

If people put a sticker on their door saying they didn't want a council tax bill or a jury citation would that be sufficient to not deliver it?

The managers in our office confirmed to us posties to respect the No Junk Mail signs as long as they are used by the current occupant (if it's an old sign and a new tenant is the current occupant, we can confirm with that new tenant if they wish to continue not receiving junk mail).

Goddamn, I'm f**king sick of posties saying sh*t like, "It doesn't matter what our customers put on their letterbox just as long as we upset our customers because Royal Mail is in the business of upsetting its customers."

What about "Beware of the Vicious Dog" signs? Shall we ignore those too? Or, "Night Shift Worker - Please Do Not Knock"?

The problem with no junk mail signs is that it's not for us to define what's junk and what isn't.

A pizza leaflet is junk mail but stick it in an envelope and write an address on it and suddenly it's not?

The term unsolicited doesn't work either, With the sale of personal information so prevelant you can sign up to one thing and find something completely unrelated landing on your doorstep the next week, tons of the stuff I get with a stamp and address I never asked for.

To be honest and no disrespect to "RoyalCrap" but the idea that you can have any control over what comes through your letterbox is a very outdated idea.

It's a hole in the front door, short of sealing it up how are you going to stop anyone using it to sell you something?
