This is just the beginning of cuts to the USO. The World is going Digital in a few years time there will be more cuts. Look at Denmark they are getting rid of all delivery of letters at the end of this year. The UK won’t be far behind.

Maybe eventually there'll be collection points where people collect their letters from. Think I remember seeing in a TV program once, don't remember in what country but people had to collect their mail from the post office.

Royal mail is a private company and personally think they should stop all mail as it is loss making,the public should be made to pay more if they want a letter just like all the utility companies we should hike the prices to make it profitable and pay the postie a decent wage.

They should be changing the name of the business then. Royal Mail is no longer fit for purpose as a brand.

If declared volumes arrived at less than 4 billion any sooner than 2030 then this company will be going under because the financial reports testify that revenue from letters was nearly par with total parcel revenues (2021/2022 p65). Unless there is a concerted effort to kill letters faster than natural decline there should still be 2bn projected in 2040. We're still talking a billion in 2050. A collapse to a tenth of that would still be 100 million annually, which if you ever saw it in front of you at once you would not dismiss it as 'hardly anything'.

The country in question may have been Canada. I think that was something that happened during Moya's tenure at Canada Post.

If it did it would have seen a complete disaster. Apparently in Mount Pleasant they are running 800 hrs over their weekly budget trying to get it to work.

As we’ve seen over the last couple of days with the water companies these regulators ain’t worth jack. All they do is smooth the way for big companies to carry on with their corruption when it was originally intended for them to do the opposite ie: stop corruption and look after the customers.
