Let's be truthful here, things are going to change, in fact they are straining at the leash to implement these changes to the USO without actually being allowed to just yet.
They believe that these new innovative duties will allow them to get vast seas of profit.
Well let's see what history tells us...... yes that's right all previous attempts to make money seem to have failed miserably, apart from covid where the government made them a fortune and they promptly gave it all away.
As for the union.. they are trying to gain themselves some sort of brownie points with the members by heavily involving themselves in the process, some would say to heavily, but you would hope they have our best interests.
It's all going to happen and we can only hope for some sanity somewhere in the room, but like i said going on past efforts we could be in for more of the same.
Or maybe Dan the man Kretinsky will have a even better plan.

He also says that they will look to protect all current attendance patterns which is clearly not possible. 4 day weeks, Wallingtons etc, aren't compatible with every other Sturday off surely?

RM employed me in a non driving role.

If RM need me to drive they can pay for my lessons and test or they can pay me to leave.

Its not discrimination as Saturday is a normal working day. Legally non drivers would be working 5 days over 6 and drivers would be working 5 days over 6. It might seem unfair but its not legally discrimination.

As it stands most reserves dont get the same number of Sats off as duty holders - is that discrimination too?

I'm just roughly quoting what TB said in the Q and A. Truth is, even the CWU have no idea how these new attendance patterns will work, and they seem to be promising everything to everyone. Like I said above, people have been told theor Wallinton weeks are safe, but that would involve working 12 days a fortnight like they currently do, when you'd need to work 9 or 10 days a fortnight after USO reform.

I couldn't understand that comment as by the time the revisions are completed they'll need a further revision in the summer for the new duties, unless the plan now is just to keep the duties the same, as Tony suggested anyway?

I thought the original suggestion was that rounds would be around 20% shorter, as how can we be expected to deliver double mail every single day, triple on a Tuesday, on the present rounds? Plus why does Tony believe just delivering 1c and Tracked is an easier job, as he ever done it himself recently?

That's what I thought too, did you catch that bit when he said if your walk takes 4.5 hours with a 35% call rate then it will take 30mins longer with a 75% on the busier days when you deliver everything, I'm not convinced.

Pretty certain if you take out double mail on a round it takes longer than just 30 mins to deliver it all on 4.5 hours duty? Although why do the CWU expect postie presently working 4.5 hrs will all be content to work 30 mins longer every day, that's 2.5 hrs a week in total, are we moving to everybody being on a 40 hr contract like the new starters?

Likewise why do they think staff on p/t contracts will all be content to work f/t in the future? You have to fear RM will want to move us all onto the new contracts if they move us to f/t contracts, I've previously been told if I want a f/t role then I will have to move to new contract.
