I can see posties delivering meds being an utter nightmare.
Imagine the grief you would face every f***ing day.
People too ill to come to the door. Sending the kid to sign for potentially lethal shiny colourful sweeties.
We would become walking dispensaries for desperate addicts.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. Reading between the lines, when he's mentioning local pharmacies I'd hazard a guess they want us to go to them and collect the prescriptions for people on our rounds, basically doing the pharmacies delivery drivers out of a job and piling more work onto us. I'm guessing that a prescription delivery would be one step below a special delivery in order of importance for delivery. Cue the "bring your tracked, standard parcels, mail back but make sure the prescriptions and specials get done" instructions from coms

You seem to have hit the nail on the head, we'll simply take over the pharmacies delivery drivers job, most of which seem semi retired or housewife's etc just doing it as a p/t job for a bit of extra money.
I assume whilst we're delivering the prescriptions we'll need to check on the welfare of the person receiving the medication. No doubt one day an OPG will just post the prescription after getting no answer, only for it to be reported they hadn't answered at they'd had an hear attack or worse! Then the family would be claiming it was a disgrace the OPG hadn't spent 5/10 mins checking on their welfare, even though they couldn't be bothered to do it themselves!!
Royail mail has gone completely insane.. absolutely no time for this lunacy.. and it takes a certain kind of person to do this.. that needs proper training.. a very specific set of skills are needed..
As someone who suffers from mental health issues, the last thing I want to do is have to speak to a "vulnerable" person who may well be suffering from similar issues. If RM could concentrate on delivering post (which is what they are supposed to do) then people wouldn't be missing out on hospital letters or similar, and suffering stress and anxiety as a result!

failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.
Do we really have the time and aptitude to check on a vulnerable person?
RM will not be doing this for free and a level of professionalism will be expected.
This task needs empathy and care a tired stressed out postie is not a suitable candidate.
I wonder what other Money making schemes RM will come up with.
