CWU the union in the pocket.
How long has the CWU been in Royal Mails pockets? From all the posts I've seen looks like it's a union where the members interests play second fiddle to whatever agenda they have in hand.

If it was that bad everyone would leave. Things would be a lot worse without the CWU, we'd be in the same boat as Yodel, DHL, etc.

I think a lot of reps are brilliant at their jobs however others are in it for their own gain.

We are the union, a REP is only as strong as his / her backing.

Re: CWU the union in the pocket.
I know this is an old post but I felt compelled to reply as I am retired but nothing has changed where I worked.I worked in a small distribution depot in the north..We were a group of 30 or thereabouts m.g.v. drivers. The rep or so-called rep sat in a office working out the balance of staff to suit his o.t. claims he worked days on constant release with night shift allowance. He basically ran the operation as the manager was lazy.I came into the unit from processing and was senior so was ostracized got a night shift and eventually said union man had me bumped off on to day's which I didn't mind as hated nights. The low point in my 10 year on driving was when my wife needed an operation for suspected cancer.I told union man about this he was also in charge of annual leave by the way I asked to not take a weeks leave so I could be off with my wife and look after her after the operation he said yes.As the date got closer he came up to me on the dock and in front of all my colleagues told me that the manager might not approve my leave.I told him I was going off anyway. He also mentioned I could be disciplined.I am now retired and haven't ever mentioned this episode at work but thought I would mention it now anonymously to get it off my chest.

There is a union rep that actually crossed a picket line last time we were on strike about 10 years ago, this union rep was actually giving the names to the area rep of people who where crossing the line this time. When this was mentioned to the area rep, how they were allowed to be union rep the reply was " you have to forgive and forget ". I know the rep comes on here. So hang your head in shame and resign.

I suppose as long as he does his job well we all have done things in the past we are not proud of.The rep I had wasn't even interested in defending the members in fact he was more interested in bringing people down.He was an ex manager as well but got taken off for fiddling the docket that says it all.

He was signing his own docket all that happened is he was taken off gaffer. Now he just claims docket even if he doesn't do it says if someone is off needs to be claimed. We used to cover runs when someone had day off and he would claim it.

Re: CWU the union in the pocket.
Excuse me for saying but what a load of bollox.
If the guy is that bad then get rid of him.
It's a democratic Union, if he's p1ssed that many people off it shouldn't be too hard to replace him.
Stand for something or live for nothing.
Put yourself up for rep, you're sure to win.
Unless of course all these accusations are just rumours.
