been referred to ohs for ihr due to long term ankle injury and an operation to remove a plate from my leg(injured on duty 8 years ago)ohs were waiting for a report from my specialist which they have now received and have arranged for a face to face consultation rather than a phone consultation.anyone know if this is normal procedure?

Hi. Yes this is the procedure nowadays . Recently had a similar case at my place . Staff member was referred to OH Assist they offered IHR ,member dismissed this outright . Make sure you do too (if you don't want it that is ) .He attended a face to face with OH and they agreed he was still fit to work . Speak to your rep he should help with this . You do however have to cooperate with OH Assist.
Ps if your meeting is not suitable location wise insist on Royal Mail paying for taxi etc . Good Luck .

thanks for your reply,its what I'm looking for now as the best way forward for me,been off for nearly 5 months with no sign of improvement in my ankle.and my manager has stated that royal mail want me to take ihr.i was just worried that I have been asked for a face to face consultation rather than a telephone one with ohs as every consultation so far has been by phone.just worried that ohs might not think I qualify for ihr for some reason
