Is there any tracking device on these PDA units?
I think one of our drivers lost one recently and he is still with us..so i would assume you will get a ticking off...

Someone in my office lost their PDA it was eventually handed in to the lost property at the local police station, don't think anything happened to the person who lost it

PDAs have GPS and a mobile phone built in. I had training on one a couple of weeks ago and we were told of a case where one had been lost in a van. The DOM called it and they found it from ringing noise. We were also told that first loss/ damage is a telling off, second time is a big bill! (Although it is arguable that if they knew you were incompetent - you should not have been given one, so it should be down to management!) :funneh

i was told on a sensless cource a couple of years ago, that they could track P.D.A's to within a couple of metres
using it's g.p.s system, as long as they know the serial number etc.
Eyebrows were raised in unison
at this potential "big brother" revelation :hmmmm

The smaller non-pda scanner used for some collections they can defo track to the meter - I know from experience. The bigger ones they can as well as long as they have the user id they are logged onto I believe.

even if they could, the battery would be flat long before a manager go round to checking ;)

I was on a collection once and had to pick up from a firm (covering for someone else hadn't done that firm before)), and I was lost. Anyway I phoned up the office and the manager looked me up on his computer and said your right by the firm, and I was, at the back door of it (retail complex). So it defo happens and he confirmed it when I asked him. I guess as well that each rural walk is allocated its own PDA for a reason, so the serial numbers can be looked up on the GPS system. Else they would just dish out the PDAs willy nilly right!!

He may of found you via the tracking on the van rather than the PDA.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets
