Continental shifts , 4 days on 4 days off, rotating shifts

Post by Dano boy »

So now we are seeing in MC that management want you to live an unsociable life by having 5 nights or 5 day weeks and later finishes possibly.

Why has the Union not intervened in these shifts and said opgs must have an acceptable work life balance considering the low pay wages we are now on ? Most companies eg Railway for an example in some sectors have 4 on 4 off . There's a time when the old timers should just accept that shift changes must happen but it's overall good for opgs to have a work life balance.

Examples?
1) Time to bring in rotating shifts like the past. ?
2) 4 days on 4 days off ?
3) similar continental shifts rotating days off 3 days off 5 on etc etc

The company want to modernise then let's see something that changes the moral in offices

Most shifts in MCs are 5 days/nights and have been for many years. A few 4 day/night shifts exist.

No disrespect but RM could probably fill every MC processing shift 10 times over with delivery OPGs willing to transfer. :wave

I'd go, as long as it's full time I'm not bothered if it's nights or what, 4 on 4 off would suit if it happened.

Yup same here. Non 'specialist' roles in every area (ie non CPC drivers etc) should all be put in the pot like the old duty auctions. OPG seniority is king and like I said, processing/collections would be s**t out of luck on that one lol.

No major changes so no need for a re-sign, besides "duties" don't exist any more, You have your "default" work area but we can be moved to any work area at any time provided that there's no training or H&S issues.

What so when Martin Walsh recently said that agency would be replaced with permanent staff that wasn't true ?

That's fine, I'd still transfer to a "default" work area, I know how to push a York and reckon it won't take much training to learn how to press the green button for go :Very Happy

Too many have thought that for many years now, but if someone's prowess extends little further than a TV remote or phone they're going to struggle with that green button.

Not a single job advertised on RM website. Hopefully successfactors is giving OPGs out with the MC a chance to apply for a duty...
