Sick procedure
Not been off for a cpl of years, until 2 seperate 1 day absences. One day due to chest infection / asthma other days were during holidays . Other day due to virus going through office , was sick during xmas boxing day and the one working day. Hit with losing a days wage . So thats 2 days in a year which the second day was probably caused by staff coming in sick as theyd lose money being off . Anything i can do ?

Re: Sick procedure
Asthma is a disability and should be covered under the Equality Act.
As such the absence should be discounted from the procedure.
I assume you have the relevant inhalers to back up your case?

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Sick procedure
The Equality Act is there not putting an individual at a disadvantage over an existing employee.
At the end of the day everybody is an employee subject to contractual obligations.
Being sick in the first year of service,, be you under the Equality Act or not means you do not receive company contractual sick pay for new starters.
But totally agree if the asthma impacts your normal daily activities then you should be exempt from the absenced procedure as any contractual obligation cannot take precedence over primary legislation.
Clashcityrocker hit that nail on the head when he asked if you use an inhailer on a regular basis.

Re: Sick procedure
Any employer can now terminate your contract of employment within the first two years with no reason and the dismissal automatically fair.
The only exception will be if the dismissal contravened a protected right/characteristic such as disability.
