Unpaid breaks 40 hours contract
I’m on 40 hours contract with 1 hour unpaid break. If I work on my own am I allowed to work without any breaks? Or if I work with my partner can I take only 20 mint of break during the shift and then after 8h 20mints go home? Am I allowed to do that?

I have always been told breaks cannot be taken at the end of your shift

Re: Unpaid breaks 40 hours contract
the working time legislation states that workers who work more than 6 hours must receive a 20 minute break during the working time which cannot be at the end of the working time. the arrangements for this break are a matter for the employer to implement. this maybe by agreement with a recognised trade union.

Re: Unpaid breaks 40 hours contract
Take your FULL HOUR. They will screw you out of it. Keep a note of every minute worked, even if waiting in a queue to hand in pda/ specials ect. Claim even 3 or 4 minutes. They would take the minutes off you. CLAIM EVERYTHING YOU ARE ENTITLED TOO. And ask around after a manager tells you anything to do with holidays/ wages due. You will find that there mostly lying toerags. Remember if you work past 8 pm, even on the new contracts you are entitled to late shift 1 allowance. It's about £8 per week. Better in your pocket. Even if you finish 1 minute over 8pm in your conditioned hours, it's payable. Your rep should be telling you all this and more and getting you signed up. It's only by sticking together that you will beat these bastards in RM and me in DWP.
