So I have been waiting to get my pick on a round for a long time now. Boss told me today that I could have a full time cover (37h). The only thing stopping me is... if I was to accept full time, would I be given one of these new contracts that have Sunday working, no paid breaks, no d2d pay etc... or would my "new" full time contract be the same as my current one, but with full time instead of my current 30h?
Not sure if this is the right area to ask this but thought id give it a try!
Ill be sure to ask my Union Rep next time I see her as well

You need to read the contract,If it’s the new type including Sunday working ,no D2D payment, No paid breaks etc then I’d definitely refuse.
You would be Losing 2.5 hrs paid breaks (30 hr contract) Delivery Supplement. £24.
But working extra 7 hrs for In effective 2.5 hrs pay

“no d2d pay etc...”
its not money for doing d2d anymore but the money you get (delivery supplement) actually comes from d2d income that royal mail get. it just gets pooled together and dished out as ''delivery supplement'' in D.O.s and ''mail centre supplement'' in mail centres. they just changed the name and the amounts, and the way its paid. but it still comes from the same source. if they ever decided to stop doing d2ds i would imagine that would be the end of the ''delivery supplement/mail centre supplement.

Do you know that for a fact?
The amount I get as a delivery supplement seems to far outweigh what RM could receive by me doing the D2Ds. I certainly do less contracts now that I did 10 years ago.
Also part of that delivery supplement comes from the removal of the early shift allowance.
For your statement to be true then some parts of the country must be drowning in D2D contracts to subsidise those areas (like mine) who don't get many. Thank you.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
do YOU know for a fact thats not the case? i remember in the 2010 pile of shite called ''deal of the century'' in which Ward specifically announced it. putting the D2D money into the workload. thus creating ''extra'' money for DOs and mail centres and people who don't even touch D2Ds. and yes there are plenty of people who come on here and state they are getting loads of D2Ds every week, although i have to agree with you on that point that we in our office don't get as many as we used to. but i stand by the statement thats where delivery supplement and mail centre supplement money comes from, and ive yet to be shown thats NOT the case. i also think if they ever do decide to scrap D2D delivery then that would be the end of those ''supplements''. thank YOU.

Your manager is talking out his ass. Only new starts from December last year don't get the £27 delivery supplement, no Sunday premium even for conditioned hours, no paid breaks, a pay rate of £12.29 per hour paid monthly and must work at any office as instructed, with no traveling time to get from normal DO to ad hoc DOs. And RM wonder why they can't keep them. Also theydontget area payments except for London and that's lower than the old contracts also. Great deal by the union. If I had brought that to my membership would have been blackballed but would have resigned instead of even asking for a vote. Don't sign ANYTHING until you talk to personnel. Your manager is trying very hard for his bonus. Now the lead come start on £45,800 per year going up to £53,000 after five years. No wonder RM are skint, paying good money that a half intelligent postie could do and probably do better. I hope it works out for you pal.
