I'm currently suspended from work, I'm not going to bore you with the details but it's a fit up, and I'm finding it very, very, stressful.
All the letters they have sent me, and the Manager verbally in interview, has checked all their compliance boxes by making me aware of the FirstClass mental health service. Well, today I'm feeling like I want to end things so I tried the website and the phone number to talk to someone. The website links are dead and the phone has a recorded message saying: "we no longer support Royal Mail Group". It's like a sick joke.

Re: Mental Health Lie
I too have suffered badly with mental health whilst employed by these lot. Try not to stress.
I’ll try from my experience to give you the best steps to go 1 by 1.
Get your union rep, if they’re no good go direct to the union and put everything down in writing.
2) Grievance against said manger/managers.
3)ACAS.. which is where I’m at now as ‘my level of attendance due to my mental health is below acceptable’
Direct quote from this inclusive company.
Stay strong
hope that helps

Re: Mental Health Lie
These types of managers who are actively try to target those with mental health issues are a disgrace.
I know it’s difficult when you’re having a particularly bad period with it and as someone who’s been there before I can understand a bit how you may feel. Even if things don’t feel like they’ll get better, they will I promise.
Looking after yourself is more important than work and getting some support from the union will help take some of the pressure off as they should be pulling up management on this.
I hope a few of the things below help.
- make sure your fit note has an emphasis on your mental health issues e.g depression/anxiety as these are protected by the Equality Act 2010 under disability. Stress does NOT come under it but is of course a factor that leads to mental health issues getting worse at work and should be mentioned alongside.
- What’s your agreed contact strategy with the manager and are they breaking it? If so include that in a grievance as it can amount to harassment, especially when trying to force you back to work when you’re not fit and ready.
- Have they done a workplace stress risk assessment?
- Appointment with occupational health?
- Tried to make ANY reasonable adjustments to help you with a return to work? E.g staggered shifts or indoor support in yours or a local office.
- Tried to get you some assistance from one of their “wellbeing ambassador” or mental health first aiders?
Just because mental health issues aren’t visible it doesn’t take away from the seriousness of them and how I they affect our ability to work. For a company who claims to be supportive of mental health they need to actually show that they are.

Launching Your Wellbeing – our new wellbeing programme
We know you go above and beyond to deliver for the nation, and we’re committed to delivering more support for you and your family.
That’s why today we’re launching Your Wellbeing - the new name of our wellbeing programme.
Whether it’s aches and pains, financial worries or personal stress, Your Wellbeing has services, tools and advice to help. It’s free, confidential and independent to Royal Mail and its available 24/7.
Throughout this week we’ll be explaining more about the services that are available for everyone including many services for your family.
Your Wellbeing replaces Feeling First Class and First Class Support
We listened and you told us how confusing it can be to understand what each service delivers. It’s really important we make wellbeing as simple as possible for everyone to access.
Your Wellbeing replaces Feeling First Class; and First Class Support is now referred to as the Employee Assistance Programme.
Whilst we update our internal guides and resources, which will take some time, we ask everyone to help by removing any existing Feeling First Class or First Class Support references from your workplace, including documents, and during conversations – replacing them with Your Wellbeing.
The new Wellbeing Hub – your ‘one stop shop’ for everything wellbeing
Alongside the launch of Your Wellbeing, today our brand new Wellbeing Hub also goes live.
Rebranded to Your Wellbeing and now even easier to access, everything you need to support your wellbeing is available all in one place, from mental and physical health to finances and life tips. It also has all the resources you need to replace Feeling First Class to Your Wellbeing.
Ready to get started?
You can access the hub from the new Your Wellbeing tile on the People App or by clicking here. https://view.pagetiger.com/nxsfsl/home
One of the main services available is Help@hand, where you can access everything from mental health, physio and online GP consultations. Visit the Wellbeing Hub for more information or download Help@Hand now and register using the pin: 164003.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

"Tried to get you some assistance from one of their “wellbeing ambassador” or mental health first aiders?"
If your wellbeing ambassador is anything like the one in the office I worked in then I fear for you. Ours was a bloody joke who was part of the bullying culture and toadied up to the managers. Thank good I have now left the sh*thole.
