Anyway I phoned up the office and the manager looked me up on his computer and said your right by the firm, and I was, at the back door of it (retail complex). So it defo happens and he confirmed it when I asked him. I guess as well that each rural walk is allocated its own PDA for a reason, so the serial numbers can be looked up on the GPS system. Else they would just dish out the PDAs willy nilly right!!

every asset number should be on recored, and in turn whatever PDA the duty is using

Lost 2 over the years, both times they where handed back by the customers. I think the main thing is owning up to it straight away, being dishonest and hiding mistakes is what can potentially give management the opportunity to take you down the conduct route. However, only if your manager was a complete and utter w****r would they do that

They should be able to track it ,not long ago we were being dragged into the office and asked why you were stood still for 20 minutes at the shop and your yellow dot was getting bigger, what were you doing off route and so on ,i wouldn't worry ive lost pda,van key, special delivery and even my post box key and im still here, everyone makes a mistake after al we are only human unlike the linos and you can be sure there will be other posties who have all done the same thing and still here. The linos just like a power trip because they were failed postman, just laugh at them and hopefully they will scuttle off back to the dark corner they came from.
