Re: Time for a shorter working week
Fella . How old are you ?
You are sounding like a very bitter twisted old man . It's quite embarrassing. On this post and other posts you are kicking off about processing staff at mail centres .
I can actually see now why higher management want "legacy" workers out . It's the toxic environment "some" make in the work place that is now difficult for RM retention of staff and harmony in the workplace?!
I have no doubt you was one of the many that kicked off during the industrial action time about the possibility of two days continuous which then meant the cwu had to revert back to one dayers ....then the cwu got untold abuse online because they haven't got a miracle deal .
It's honestly embarrassing the way you're behaving on here . Seriously mate give your head a wobble or get off the forums ..or leave the job . Embarrassing

Actually not a bitter twisted old man ...but more like a five year old !! and that's being kind as I'm sure there's many minors that are much more grown up than you .

Re: Time for a shorter working week
Going back to the original post I'm wondering just out of interest what's triggered these changes, you say they want 5 nights with a latest finish 8am so I'm assuming the shifts will have to start shortly after midnight or thereabouts to account for a 37hr week, so is it the case that there's not enough work available before midnight in a similar way to how they forced us on delivery to start later or are they just being twats.

Re: Time for a shorter working week
Apart from Mondays when the packets start off by doing 2C outward, there's enough work available before midnight. They'll be moving our start and finish times an hour later.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025, 07:53Going back to the original post I'm wondering just out of interest what's triggered these changes, you say they want 5 nights with a latest finish 8am so I'm assuming the shifts will have to start shortly after midnight or thereabouts to account for a 37hr week, so is it the case that there's not enough work available before midnight in a similar way to how they forced us on delivery to start later or are they just being twats.
Will they be making any changes to dispatch times? A change of finish time to 08:00 means there's a fair chance that the wave 2 dispatch will be an hour later.

If they keep moving it then people get off the shift or leave . Also less shift allowances are paid eventually then replaced with casuals staff that come in at stupid o'clock .SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025, 10:29Apart from Mondays when the packets start off by doing 2C outward, there's enough work available before midnight. The bigger picture of all of this is purely less legacy workers or the fire and rehire model . The new owner will not want opgs contracts with numerous allowances which in some cases are a huge part of earnings especially if transferred in from London offices etc

Have you seen how many casuals they employ every Christmas where there will be long periods of them doing very minimal work because there's so many employed.

Why don't you jump over to delivery? You seem to be annoyed about working night shift lolDano boy wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025, 11:56

All that is happening really, is that they are increasing your hourly rate of pay. It will be interesting to see how future pay negotiations go.Dano boy wrote: ↑08 Aug 2025, 18:23Over the past couple of years, general interest in the idea of a shorter working week has grown. In this country, hundreds of employers have been experimenting with reducing hours for no loss of pay with positive results, including:
· Better work/life balance
· Lower levels of stress
· Lower staff turnover
· Greater workplace productivity

I think within 5 years at the absolute tops, all allowances and supplements will be gone for everyone, no matter what type of office they work in, probably paid breaks will also go.

I reckon aswel . One pay structure throughout the company. If it's not split up eventuallySpacePhoenix wrote: ↑09 Aug 2025, 20:09I think within 5 years at the absolute tops, all allowances and supplements will be gone for everyone, no matter what type of office they work in, probably paid breaks will also go.
