The only interesting bit out of that was Martin saying nobody will do a core walk more than 3 days a week under the new USO which I definitely agree with and would maybe make those double mail days less s**t if you are rotating onto a driving route through the week. But this raises the awkward question yet again about non drivers, how are they supposed to avoid doing a core walk more than 3 times a week? Seems impossible.
An LTB went out as the latest waste of server space was being put out. Martin has put his name to an interrogation of workers where they will have to explain why they do not drive for the industry. Walsh is never happier than when he's throwing workers under the bus. It's like he's so guilty about his betrayal of the working class that he can only placate his guilt by making other people's lives a misery. Schadenfreude I think the Germans call it.

Did anyone catch the bit where mw spoke of the large amount of money being paid out on outdated allowances, I'm assuming driving allowance etc, but he also mentioned £100 of the Christmas bonus.

He then went on to talk about introducing local productivity schemes so I'm hoping they're not planning on removing half the Christmas bonus to go towards funding it.
Can’t beat a bit of scare mongering, it’s what we do best on here.😂
Not sure it's scaremongering just repeating what MW said earlier? Does MW seriously think £5 is going to incentised anybody to go the extra mile?
talk of removing the Xmas bonus is clearly scare mongering.

😂😂, anyone would think it’s personal between you and Martin.
Its never personal, it's business.

Martin's blue skies thinking, making it up as he goes along, really is scary.

Here's what Walsh has agreed:

"In preparation for the proposed changes we need to gather and better understand information on non-drivers. This builds on an exercise carried out earlier this year and to validate the information provided previously so we can understand the reasons why people do not currently drive as part of their role and identify any opportunities to support them to do so in the future".

It seems pretty clear the non driving role is finished?

As i have no skin in the game anymore i hopefully can look at this objectively, the CWU are in the midst of intensive negotiations with the new owner and his minions on a new agreement covering the USO reform, plus they are negotiating a new pay agreement and t&c's.
My opinion is they are two separate things and should be discussed accordingly, separately.
Reason being that this is how the union got itself in the state it is at the minute, there's always going to be conflict when you put them together.
The union say that the two are linked, but that's only if you let it be.
They also say that any pay rise needs to be funded...... so then do RM have you involved when they raise the price of postage every time?
What about when they are negotiating business contracts?
If they are saying that your pay is linked to business then every part of it is linked.
The union need to establish that separation from business that is needed to stop people thinking they are in cahoots with the company.
Finally i hope the outcome is in favour of the workers, and i hope the union grow a pair and represent their members first.

Absolutely not. There are reps out there demanding singleton duties for contract variations that accommodate workers with specific requirements. It can and is being fought for.

The uso change is being used as leverage by the CWU to negotiate a better deal , so it’s not in our interest to separate things at this point.

What real power do reps have if RM have decided in the long term that the no driving role is finished, if it isn't why are the CWU helping the company investigate how non drivers can become drivers? Hopefully any non drivers can keep their roles i definitely but it's unlikely they'll be replaced if they ever leave RM.

We can’t accept an above inflation pay rise for unless we improve the T&Cs of new starters - the worsening of new starters T&Cs was in the last agreement recommended to us by the executive

We can’t accept an above inflation pay rise unless we improve VR terms - the worsening of VR terms was in the last agreement recommended to us by the executive.

We cannot accept an above inflation pay rise unless we improve the attendance/sick pay - the worsening of the attendance procedure and reduction in sick was in last agreement recommended to us by the executive.

This seems to be a novel new approach by the executive 🤔🤔🤔

Two minutes in “we gotta manage expectations”.

I think Martin has forgotten that his role is to represent the members not to manage them.

Or is it?
They've adopted the German model where the union acts as an intermediary between the workforce and the employer. Their role is to dampen the shocks, quell disquiet, and fundamentally act as a parallel management in executing orders. The retreat from the top of the hill that was the end to the last dispute was the point where the CWU confronted existentialism and made this decision out of pure survival instinct.
The machine stops.

CWU just keep contradicting themselves, feels like Martin Walsh is way out of his depth,he struggles to string 2 sentences together,it’s frightening to think he’s negotiating on our behalf 😱😳

That's what you get if you beg for the crumbs from the table. Boot that executive out.
