Relief Driver Start and Finish Time
I have been a full time relief driver for some years and my hours are 7-4pm. I keep being put on routes with finishing times way beyond this do I have to stay out until 6pm as required under some routes or can I stick to my contracted hours 7-4pm ?

Re: Relief Driver Start and Finish Time
Unless you are getting paid the sa from the route you are covering then you are fully entitled to get back at 4pm regardless of what your line manager tells you , if in the union I would speak to your depot rep . It's just a matter of standing up to the line manager and stating you wish to finish at 4pm and no later . It's like any other job , if getting paid till 4pm and that's when you wanna finish then you go home and don't feel pressured to do any more !

Re: Relief Driver Start and Finish Time
spoke to our union rep and she says that as we signed the agreement to work beyond the normal hours when we produce our licences that we have to work as and when. She is pretty new rep. It was under the impression if my hours are 7-4 then anything after this is overtime and unless overtime is now not an option but compulsory I believe she is wrong along with the line manager any ideas from union reps ?

Re: Relief Driver Start and Finish Time
You are under no obligation to work past 4pm if you choose not to , you just need to stand up to your line manager and clearly state your intentions and stick to it. The only implication I could envisage is if you want to get a route eventually and your line manager is vindictive with a long memory!
