parcelforce employees refused cat trainers - discrimination?

I am a c/d driver for parcelforce. I have read all the pros and negatives of the cat safety trainer; feet ache , wear out quickly, leak in water, etc. But decided i wanted a pair because the hot weather had brought out my shorts... and i wanted to look trendy with the trainers. So i rang the uniforms number and was told they are only for RM workers and not parcelforce.
I can understand the differences in uniform, but surely all safety footwear should be available to all RM and Parcelforce employees. I'm sure i read somewhere, that the CWU were promoting a wide variety of footwear to ALL employees.
If Parcelforce is part of RM, then why are we being discriminated in this area?

Parcelforce uniform is s**t. Fact. I have rang up before asking for alternative footwear and was told "no". The trousers are massive, the shorts are massive and look s**t and probably fit like s**t. I've resorted to buying my own safety shoes and shorts and just wearing a PF polo which is made of the thickest material possible and very uncomfortable to work in.

I believe we can now have the DM boots n shoes, which is at least an improvement on the Magnums.
