I reach state retirement age March 2021.
What is the procedure will Royal Mail contact me?
This is a general payroll enquiry as opposed to a specific pension one.

If you're still working for RM, there would be no reason for them to contact you, as there is no longer a maximum retirement age - you can work for as long as you want!

I assume you've already taken your RM pensions?

Thank you yes I have. As it stands I do not intend to work after state retirement age but obviously things can change. It looks as if I will have to initiate the retirement process as and when. Thanks again.

RM are nothing to do with the state pension, you should be contacted automatically: https://www.gov.uk/new-state-pension/how-to-claim" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When you want to leave RM, just resign giving them the appropriate notice.

You HAVE to claim your state pension and beware it is NOT backdated

Royal Mail won’t contact you because of age discrimination.

As others have mentioned you should receive written confirmation about 3 to 4 months before state pension is due to start and you must reply to confirm you want it. If you do not receive this about 3 months before that date do contact and query why. You must be approx 66 years of age i assume. If working still your tax will increase as state pension is taken from your personal allowance so be prepared.

I reach state retirement age February 2021. I received my claim letter last week, completed it online and got a letter today stating how much state pension I’ll receive.

All income above the personal tax allowance(currently £12,500 per year) is taxable. That income includes:

wages from a job
pension income, not including any tax free lump sums
state pension
interest on savings over the annual £1,000 limit
