franking machine

Has Royal Mail Mail Centres run out of ink during the Christmas period or are they not franking to save money?
I know that Back is not interested in letters anymore so who does he think is going to endorse the letters or is he not bothered ?
I had been crossing the stamps with a pen but the DOM didn't want us wasting time on IPS so now don't bother as nobody higher up is interested

Enough folk selling “unfranked stamps” on eBay you can also buy a stamp removing fluid

For iLSMs it might just be the machine being run on the wrong stream. For IMPs and CFCs it might be the engineers to busy to refill the ink tanks. I don't work on either an IMP or CFC so don't know if refilling the ink tank is an engineer only task

This time of year it is poor. Revenue is lost (people reusing stamps). Maybe if they encouraged postmen/women to defrank these stamps instead of lapsing maybe they will have a happy workfoce.

How long does it normally take to refill the ink tanks?

I was told the only time a stamp will get franked is if the postmaster does it at the post office counter, anything in the letterbox or the postmaster misses will not be franked.

It would come up as a fault on the Pre- Flight.

WTF Truly shocked at this idiots attitude

Everyone's getting shitloads of unfranked Christmas Cards, if no-one manually endorses them the Business (and us) will loose literally millions!

Years ago I actually took the time to record how many unfranked cards I had for the day .... it worked out as over £200 worth!

Multiply that across the entire business and it's a lot of money.

For those who think, "I'm not bothering it's Royal Mail's problem", I would ask DO YOU LIKE WORKING FOR FREE? Because if you're walking up that drive with a handful of unfranked cards you can bet someone's going to peel them off and use them again, so you're not getting paid for that walk... and the next letter they're used on will be for Free!

We get Three attempts to pick these cards up: 1) On the IPS, admitedly a lot of "It's not my mail I can't be arsed" at this stage (although very unprofessional) 2) When you're throwing it off into your frame 3) As you do your Door Step check.

And that’s just the letters!!! Take a look at packets when you’re sorting them - they often have two, three or four quids worth of stamps that haven’t been cancelled. The amount of money lost must be phenomenal.Can you imagine if you went into the supermarket to do a shop and the till wasn’t working, they wouldn’t just wave you through and give you your goods for nothing.

It seems to be a lot worse this Xmas than in previous years, 1 in 3 or 4 cards not endorsed I counted it at the other day. I have been crossing them off but only marked afew out yesterday and today as it was slowing me down too much. Don’t think anyone else in the office cares too much.

Don't know what it's like in DOs but in MCs you have the overall MC budget, each shift has it's own budget and on each shift, each work area has its own budget
