Royal Mail on Twitter and moaning customers..

Post by fishtank »

They take a lot of abuse but when faced with this...
Dear @RoyalMail I love the way my postman delivers (potentially) important documents. Such effort and enthusiasm

Should they really be replying with this....
I'm really sorry to hear about this. We can help to get this reported if you'd like?
Reported for what exactly?
Ok the stuff is a bit squashed but that's really more likely to do with the brushes behind the door than anything else.I can't see any damage to the items.
Come on customer services have some common sense,we're all RM employees aren't we?

most of my customers today will be sending in their tweets then, everything got soaked through, a D2D magazine turned into paper mache as soon as a raindrop hit it, and you are right about the brushes, pain in the ar5e most of them.

By the way the d2d (or whatever it is) is folded i'd guess they have one of these crappy little letterbox's, or better still, the little upright one with the lift back flap.

how true.its like shoving your hand between a pair of mating hedgehogs and takes off a few layers of skin over the course of a week as well.on average takes about 6 months minimum to break a new letter box in so to speak

It's the small boxes on walls that annoy me. Got one in particular that looks like a prop from Toytown. Anything larger than a postcard has to go through their door letterbox, which I suspect is then eaten by their dog. If the customer doesn't provide us with a sensible delivery point then they shouldn't complain of the consequences.

God forbid if you take a soggy D2D back to the office and risk getting done for willful delay. You're better off posting it and letting the customer complain! :left:

Some springs on L/Boxes could withstand a nuclear explosion.....not a lot of good for a flimsy A4 letter or drenched D2D  Most of the time you only have one hand to wrestle with.

I have an mp who lives in a victorian house with a victorian tiny letterbox! Did the job in victorian times but with piles of letters, flats and magazines these days , they have to be origami'd into a shape to go through!
And he has the cheek to leave a notice saying "if no answer , leave next door". Next door is miles away and doesn't he need a sleep in now and again? Needless to say I just slip most large items, he can always meet me in person and discuss it, and on that note a tip might be nice this year!
Why are lino's paid full-time ??

The RM Twitter account makes VERY depressing reading for us out delivering every day - they seem to do nothing but advise people on how to complain and report. Not once have I read them sticking up for the postie:

People complain of "late" delivery - RM don't ever advise that delivery times could be any time up to mid-afternoon...they seem happy to leave people with the impression that all deliveries are made before "lunch".

People complain that packets aren't left with neighbours - RM advise them to report it, ever explain that we might have tried neighbours, that we might not have had time, that the neighbour may have refused, that the postie might have been unsure of the area/residents/etc.

Everything that the customer says is agreed with and it makes us (at least it does me) feel pretty worthless when the "management" won't stand up for us.
