Its great when you have days like that(it was light in my office as well) trouble is if it carrys on then job cuts are on the cards for sure
no work=no postmen.my concern is that its been light for ages and this is the excuse royal mail needs to make changes part time etc.We should all be very concerned

im afraid this will fuel royal mail ,in the long term, to try for a more flexible approach we all know that come around easter ,end of financial year we will be working are proverbial bollox off (for the same pay).i really think that this will be the next target for efficency savings as royal mail will say these are sustainable.
i cannot believe though a company of royal mails size cannot get the logistics right and balance days out but that would be the sensible approach.

It really is going up and down lately, maybe there is just a lull going on.
Before xmas for a few months it was really bad,and i mean really bad,but i guess you guys know that.
Then we had a bit of a surge afterwards then it's kinda been sort off below average ish.
But in all fairness it's the swings and roundabouts senario, like before xmas, and like Darth said Easter and the tax year thing, which in all fairness RM get away with a hell of a lot as it really is manic at them times.
There's times when we make a bit,and times we cut if fine, but i still have bastard days even when theres a lull.
And another thing Darth said about the logistics of it,this Mail business is really a strange one,why they can't sort us out a bit more for say a Tuesday to help out in the heavier days is beyond me,surely they must know what's coming in,where's Fozzie!!
Don't they work down the mlo's on a Monday!!
Interesting though these lull times, what's gonna happen when the others are delivering the s**t as well,in certain areas our boys will have naff all to do,and you know what that means!!

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
