SHORTER WORKING WEEK

Post by johnnyp »

Should the union now be campaigning for a shorter working week?
With all the issues coming up from royal mail e.t.c. isnt it about time we worked less hours to safeguard jobs.
With the threat of walk sequenceing machines and all the other nasty things the business wants ,the less time weve got to do it the better.Shorter contracts not the answer(unless chosen)FULL TIME JOBS AT ALL TIMES.

This to me seems that it hasn't been mentioned for years.
I can't see this ever coming in,not with what is going on now, well not for the full timers anyway.

Ours are around 500-550 give or take and i think that's big.
Who would have 1000 delivery point?is that even possible?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I emailed Mr Leighton recently about shorter week and was told it was not an option at this time, my last employment which i was in from 1986 till 1998 had a 37 hour working week, i just feel we are way behind the times doing a 40 hour week. We also had a 6 week annual leave without having to purchase any leave but we did work some of our public holidays for that.

Yep they sure did,Union said they wanted it,RM said they'd talk about it.
Dodo comes to mind, there's no chance now.
