Dead Letters

Am I the only one who has a kill off list? When mail comes back add names to a list. Go through the list AFTER REDIRECTIONS and take out the frame. Can reduce bundles down a bit.

Can be a good thing but you will get that nasty flat mate etc who get the post first and sending it back and then you start to send it back too

To be honest,if you're caught doing that you'll be for the high jump, well, depending on your Manager.
We HAVE to deliver every thing regardless, yes we know who's there and who's not and i do kill off stuff now and then.
But to have a list is dodgy.
I've delivered to boarded up houses before because my line Manager has told me i have to.
I'm not 100% but i think it's the Law.
I've been told they have to be sent back by whoever lives in the dwelling,if you can get it through the letter box,it goes.

I only do it when definate. For example, not with RTS but if it says 'no longer at this address' or simular then I do. With boarded up houses and empty shops we report that and get it checked first. One of my drops is an empty shop with mail piling up behind the door and to be honest thats just silly delivering mail there. But a lot of rounds have a list in the drawer for day off people to do it aswell, although it's one of them things that's not important enough to bother with when it's busy. Manager has seen us do it and as long as we get out and back with good time then that's the main thing.

One person in our office puts missorts in a pillar box when he can't be arsed going that extra stretch at the end of his round. Even though our line manager now uses a red kill off crayon to mark them.
